Choose a topic that relates to creating babies, caring for them (and Mom) prenatally and/or the birthing process. Here are some examples, but I am sure you can think of others: conception, genetic counseling, prenatal care (for Mom), birthing, hospitals, midwives, obstetricians, doulas, anesthesiology during birth, episiotomies, circumcisions… I think you get the picture! The topic you choose may be that broad, or it may be more specific.
Find a mainstream news article (not the National Enquirer or the Podunk Penny Saver, but maybe the Seattle Times or Psychology Today) about that topic.
Read that article.
Summarize the article for your classmates (2 paragraphs). Include the following:
Provide the connection you see that it has to the text and/or lessons
- make it clear and specific
Tell us what you think about what the article has to say.
Provide the citation for your source in APA style.
2. Find a scientific journal article or New York Times Science Tuesday article about that topic
Scientific journals are periodicals with names like The American Psychologist or the Journal of insert topic here. I do allow you to use the New York Times Science section because it is a reputable source with writers who usually have a good handle on science (and not so tough to find).
Read that article (it will be harder to read than the article for the first post).
Summarize the article for your classmates (2 paragraphs), this should include:
How does it confirm or contradict the subject discussed in the post 1 you chose.
Be sure to tell your classmates which post you used as your jumping off point.
How do you see these articles connecting?
Provide your source in APA style.
